The association Scuola permanente dell’Abitare (Permanent School of Living), with registered office in Albino (Bergamo), via Valle del Muto 25, was founded on 30 April 2014. The association also has an operational headquarters called OCRA Officina Creativa dell’Abitare (Creative Workshop of Living) in Montalcino, in the complex of Saint Augustin, in via Boldrini 4.
Since 2014, the Association has organized residential higher-education courses in architecture, archaeology, art, restoration, theatre, design, dance, oenology, etc.
Scuola Permanente dell’Abitare is an incubator of ideas with an open-minded attitude towards a different concept of architecture based on an exchange of ideas with different disciplines and different fields of knowledge examined and questioned during activities involving people: workshops, residential summer schools, conventions, refresher courses, publishing products, and performance events. Its aim is to create a path that leads to architecture through humanistic culture, and that relies more on technique understood as the art of building than on technology.
Creating quality spaces through harmonious forms and biodynamics, i.e. through the ability of materials to participate in the active life of buildings. Creating places to live in, where technology is a non-essential accessory. A concert hall like a sound box, a naturally air-conditioned industrial cellar, a monastery with passive design, a village made of cyclone-proof and earth-quake proof wood.
An immersive experience, from archaeology to the contemporary world, to learn how to transform spaces into places where relationships are cultivated, to learn about their performance, and to use them to influence behaviour and change lifestyles.
“To live means to build,
To cultivate relationships and, like
Breathing and eating, it is a primary
Need, a collective action”
