OLTRE

The exhibition OLTRE by Gianriccardo Piccoli, set within the industrial spaces of the former Colorificio Migliavacca in Bergamo, is a curatorial project that places the artist’s work in dialogue with the architectural memory of the site. The design seeks to preserve the raw, authentic identity of the former factory, transforming it into a narrative device that amplifies the themes of exploration, transition, and surpassing that define Piccoli’s artistic research.

The exhibition unfolds as a sequence of environments where material—iron, wood, paper, pigment—encounters time-worn surfaces, creating a continuous interplay between the building’s productive past and its creative present.

The artworks stand as autonomous presences while simultaneously engaging with a space that is never neutralized but interpreted. Architectural interventions are reduced to the essential: light structures, suspended supports, and calibrated lines of illumination that guide the gaze without overshadowing the works.

The choice of the Ex Colorificio Migliavacca is not merely scenographic but deeply conceptual. The factory—once a place of transformation, labour, and colour—resonates with Piccoli’s poetics of stratification, minimal gestures, and inner tensions. The exhibition design highlights this relationship between artwork and context, allowing the richness of the space to become an integral part of the narrative.

OLTRE is conceived as a passage: an invitation to go beyond the physical and mental boundaries of the artwork, of the space, and of the experience itself. The exhibition design accompanies visitors through this movement, offering a display that does not simply present objects but constructs a new way of inhabiting art within an industrial building returned to the city.
